2009 NEW BOOK CELEBRATES MN STATE PARKS
Prairie, Lake, Forest: Minnesota’s State Parks with photography by Doug Ohman and text by the Pioneer Press’ own Outdoors Editor, Chris Niskanen was released on April 24th at William O’Brien State Park. Doug Ohman visited each of Minnesota’s 66 parks to take the more than 200 color photographs in the book. Chris Niskanen chronicled the sights, sounds and experiences of exploring the parks in sixteen essays through the eyes of those who know them best: rangers, naturalists, and long-time users. Your editor has a copy of this beautiful coffee-table type book. The essays are short enough to be read a “chapter” at a time for a busy person, and the photographs are stunning. The book is available from the Minnesota Historical Society Press for $29.95 ISBN-13: 978-0-87351-771-3, 8 ½” x11”.
