CONDOLENCES TO:
Longtime members Evelyn & Hilda Daltas, whom a lot of us have never met, on the loss of their brother Spero P. Daltas, who died on Nov. 8, 2009 at the age of 89.

BELL RINGING
A total of 19 members and 1 guest rang the bells for the Salvation Army at Cub Foods, Midway, Dec.3rd. Thanks to all who so willingly gave of their time and talents to enrich the St. Paul Hiking Club and lives of others.

THANK YOU!
Forty-four guests came to the Holiday Party and so many were wearing creative hats that new contest categories were added. The desserts brought by members were delicious, and all did well with the photo identification, while enjoying the good meal. A HUGE “Thank You!” for the mountain of hats, gloves, mittens and scarves that were donated to the Salvation Army on West 7th to warm many of all ages. A special thank you to Marion Hastings for helping us.

MORE REASONS TO WALK
Reach the Deep-Sleep Zone. Say good night to poor sleep. Women age 60 and older who walked or danced for at least an hour, four times a week, woke up half as often and slept an average 48 minutes more a night than sedentary women, according to a study in the journal Sleep Medicine. Slash Cold Risk 33%. Moderate exercise doesn’t just rev your metabolism-it boosts your immune system, too, helping your body fight off cold bugs and other germs. Aim to exercise for at least half an hour a day. (Excerpted from Prevention February 2009) Men can benefit, too!
