OUR CONDOLENCES TO:
Pat Hustings on the loss of her brother David T. Hustings in August.

THANK YOU
A big thanks to everyone for the cards, gifts of money and your prescence at the memorial for my brother, David - I really do appreciate it and will be saying prayers for all of you also. Sincerely, Pat Hustings

INVASIVE PLANTS
Paul Erdmann from the Ramsey Conservation District recently sent a flier out via e-mail asking the clubs help in locating invasive plants in Ramsey County. There are 9 species on the flier. If you would like a copy of the flier, I can e-mail one to you or print one for you, or for more information, contact the Ramsey Conservation District at 651-266-7277, or the website is: www.co.ramsey.mn.us/cd/swma.htm, and there are more websites you can check out that are listed on the flier!

HEARD FROM A GUEST
That joined us on Gary Loff’s hike August 9th that the club was mentioned in the August 2009 Backpacker Magazine, on Page 85, in an article entitled “The Outdoors At Your Doorstep.” I don’t know how they got it! It must’ve been an internet dig, spies in our midst, or a miracle!

HEY! LOOK AT THAT NUMBER!-
At the top of the newsletter! It’s issue number 1000! I think that’s something to celebrate! Who, in that first group that gathered on Jan. 15, 1921, would’ve thought that the club might last this long? Let’s all lift a glass of your favorite beverage, (alcoholic or not) and salute the Hiking Club and the Trailblazer for being around so long!

2009 CLEARWATER TRIP
Many thanks, especially to Jackie Lallier, for another wonderful outing in Clearwater Forest. The great meals, all the hikes anyone would want, and other activities were wonderful! Game hens on Saturday night! The Osprey house is a real bargain at $15.00/night! Twenty one attended this year's outing and 24 in 2008. Please think about next year, so we can have another good turn out. Guests are always welcome.

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 1, 2009, for our Holiday Party at Josephs on Wabasha St. in St. Paul, and Thursday, December 3, 2009, Bell ringing for the Salvation Army at Cub Foods in Midway.

Details will be in the November Trailblazer.
