Sunday hikes start at 2:30 p.m., go for about 2 hours, and cover approx. 5 miles.
Tuesday hikes start at 7:30 p.m., cover about 3 miles and last one hour.

THE ANNUAL WEINER ROAST
Our Annual Weiner Roast will be Sunday, September 18, 2011, At the Como Park Fire Rings, on Horton St., between Hamline Ave. & Lexington Pkwy., at the South end of Como Park. Hot dogs, veggies, chips, smores and more, all for $5.00 per person, fee collected on site. BYOC (Bring your own chair). Hike begins at 2:30 and we will eat after the hike. Question: Could we have a volunteer to bring wood and start/or feed an existing fire? Call Marion Hastings, 651-604-0459 with any questions or to volunteer.

HIKING CLUB HISTORY
Did you know that we have a song called “The Hikers Song”? There are many copies of it in the archives that were passed along to us from Wanda Duffy’s estate through her daughter and Jackie Lallier. It is sung to the melody of the Battle Hymn of the Republic. It consists of 4 verses, all original. One of the times it was used, or at least, printed for use, was for an outing to Stroh’s Brewery (formerly Hamm’s Brewery) Tuesday, October 28, 1986. There was a brewery tour that night, followed by a light supper and a slide show, and photo albums of the club on a table for all to see.
